why cant i play call of duty 4 online?

i tried to join a friends party and it gets stuck and stays on the downloading game settings pop up... then i tried to find a game and it did the same thing and never loads. ive tried reinstalling it and resetting my ps3 but still doesnt work. somebody said i could of got banned but i have never done anything wrong like cheating or hacking.
i actualy have realy good internet and theres no scratches on the disc.

It could be your internet connection is bad... or the game is just messed up... Do u use wireless internet on ur console?
